Frequently Asked Questions
What is different about The Fix?
We are preservative free. We are addative free. We use wholefoods to press our juice. We use local produce. We are alkaline.
We offer only the freshest ingredients. We use Mavis ( our cold pressed machine) to do her magic our vegetable-based juices, without compromising the integrity of the juice. We deliver to where ever you are.
We are shameless health promoters. Everything from the design of our juices, to how we create our spaces, to the individuals that stand behind our company and in front of our customers strive to embody our philosophy:
Think well, move well, juice well.
What is HPP? Why does The Fix use it?
High Pressure Pascalisation is a method used to extend shelf life on all of our cleanse programs. The method applies high pressure to inhibit microflora growth in juices. Unlike pasteurization, pascalization is an external process; the raw product itself is not comprimised. HPP uses only evenly distributed pressure of cool water. Its like dropping each sealed bottle hundreds of meters into the ocean. The higher the pressure the less likely to have harmful invaders, such as Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella, lactic acid bacteria, yeast and mold.
We use it because we want every bottle of juice you open to be fresh. Every day you leave a bottle of juice in the fridge the nutrient count falls. HPP means the juice is as fresh as the day you bought it.
If my body has natural processes for detoxifying why should I cleanse?
Yep, your right. Your body does cleanse naturally and constantly. We like to think of our cleanse program as a way to bring balance back into people's lives. Your body is exposed constantly to different stressors, processed foods, caffeine, sugars, carbs, supplements, fizzy drinks and alcohol on a daily basis. Think of the cleans as a way to pause all the negatives going in and give your body a rest. It's a short rest but WOW the effects are amazing. You might even find yourself rethinking your habits after your first shot.
Can I work while I cleanse?
Yes. However, everyone is unique. Some may feel alert and energetic, others feel more lethargic than usual. You may find it easier to stay busy, or prefer to take this time to rest. Listen to your body.
How soon before my cleanse can I put in an order?
It all depends on your schedule. We deliver your order within 48 hours so allow for at least 2 days. If you don't plan to start your cleanse immediately the juices can stay fresh in your fridge for up to 4 weeks. Please note the Almond Milk has a shorter shelf life of 2 weeks.
How do I get ready to start a cleanse?
We will make sure you are fully informed prior to your cleanse. Refer to the Cleanse section for more information. 1-2 days prior to your start date, begin by drinking lots of water and incorporating 4-5 servings of alkaline foods such as fruits and veggies into your daily diet. Good hydration and eliminating processed foods are the best way to prepare your body for a cleanse.
Can I exercise while on a cleanse?
Sure you can. We recommend you take your juices with some sunshine on your way to work. For more intense exercise, we suggest you go gentle at the start. See how your body is feeling. Some people find they have more energy, others find they have less. So listen to your internal rhythm. You are still getting nutrition, but it is wise to beware of lower volume of foods. It's always a great idea to stick to yoga or pilates for that added effect of intense breathing to help you maximize your cleanse.
Is my entire multi-day cleanse shipped out at the same time or one day at a time?
We will ship your entire order at the same time so you have your cleanse there as soon as you are ready to go. This means you only need to accept the delivery once.
What is the difference between regular juicers and a cold pressed juicer?
Regular (Centrifugal) juicers use internal blades to extract juice, and spin up to 30,000 revs per minute. This pumps air through produce, incurring premature oxidisation. The blades shred fruit and vegetables into tiny particles exposing them to air, compromising the living enzymes as they separate. This means a juice made with a regular juicer needs to be consumed straight after its made because the nutrient levels diminish quickly.
Cold press juicers extract juice from produce using a gentle crushing and squeezing action. This ensures that the vital enzymes, nutrients and minerals stay intact. This extraction method is still regarded as the best in the world. In fact, independent research shows that a cold press juicer retains double the nutrients to its centrifugal counterparts. This means we keep the good stuff in there for longer.
What shouldn't I do before or during a cleanse?
Don't eat like it will be your last supper. Don't have a boozy lunch or night. Alcohol as fun as it is, is a toxin. The point of the cleanse is to remove toxins from the body. Do not actively tempt yourself. Stay away from morning teas and avoid hanging out in places where tasty treats are served. Finally, ease back into eating once you finish the cleanse. This defeats the purpose of cleansing the body.
What if I can't do a number two in the loo? Hmmph
Usually, cleanses will speed things up in the Dunny Department. However, if you are experiencing the opposite, there are a number of things you can do to speed up bowel movements. Hydration is important. Start by doubling your daily water intake. There are many herbal remedies get things moving. Sip on Cascara Sagrada tea. Veggies by their very fibrous nature are designed to improve digestion.
Where is The Fix made?
The Fix juices are made in our kitchen. Its a big kitchen. Big enough to house Mavis our cold press machine. We have a spot in Sydney where all the juice magic happens.
