Hemp Milk Range

Why our hemp milk?

Our Hemp Milk is one of the first cold-pressed, cold-pressurised, never heated treated milk alternatives in Australia, containing a whopping 10% Australian grown hemp seeds.

What it's not.

It's not milk.  It's an alternative to milk.  Sure, we could add emulsifiers, stabilisers, gellan gums and other extracts such as Quillaja Extract and artificial vitamins to make it even more like your usual milk, but that's not what the Fix is all about. We actually care about your health.

What's different about it? Isn't it just like the stuff in the cartons?

We are totally different!  Many of the other brands have as little as 1.5% hemp content in their so-called “Hemp Milks”.  Our milk contains a whopping 10% hemp.  We choose the best Australian grown seeds and soak for 12 hours to activate all the nutrients and flavours.  Then we blend them through our cold press before bottling.

Most brands, including the ones in the fridge, then heat-pasteurise (120 degrees) and/or homogenise their milk, which destroys all the beautiful omega 3's and 6's. Temperatures above 70 degrees C destroy them. They then add fillers and stabilisers to make it taste like something that resembles hemp milk.

Using the same cold pressure technology that we use for our juices, our bottles of milk are sent through for a high-pressured bath to kill any nasty microbes while keeping the nutrients and flavours intact (see HPP below for more details). That is all we do – no emulsifiers, stabilisers, flavourings, preservatives, gums, extracts or other weird ingredients.

So what's in it?

2 simple ingredients are in our plain hemp milk – Australian hemp seeds and filtered water……. that is it.......just 2 ingredients.

For our Chocolate Milk we then add raw cacao (pronounced ka-kow) which is known for its antioxidants, excellent sources of magnesium and iron. For a touch of sweetness, we use Natvia or Stevia which is extracted from the stevia herb.

Our Cold Brewed coffee is just as minimal with its ingredients. Our plain hemp milk is mixed with coffee which has been cold brewed for 12 hours and then had Natvia added to bring out the sweetness.

Why cold brewed? It gives a deeper, less acidic and more subtle taste, and is more concentrated than conventionally-brewed coffee. As we don’t heat any of our products this is the most best way we could add a wonderful coffee flavour to our hemp milk.

Raw hemp milk is great nutritionally but is notorious for not lasting long in the fridge. To allow our milks to have a 2-week shelf life, we use a process called cold-pressure pasteurization (or HPP – High Pressure Processing).  Basically, our bottles are put under the same pressure as at 6km under the sea or another way to describe it, picture a fully grown male elephant standing balancing on a 1 cm square, that is about 6,000kg per sq cm!!!!!. This deactivates the microbes that cause the milk to spoil, but doesn’t affect the nutrients or flavour.  It’s the same process that we use for our cold-pressed juices. We love HPP as it allows us give you a nutritionally dense product without the use of preservatives.

Non heated treated almond milk’s might split….Why?

Separation is natural! It doesn’t happen often but sometimes milk can separate in the bottle or if it gets heated too quickly.  As long as it’s been kept in a fridge and is within its use-by date, it’s fine to drink.  Just give the bottle a shake or a stir it into your tea or coffee.

This is also an excellent way to tell if hemp milks have been heat treated either by pasteurization or homogenization. . If they do not split it maybe cause they have been heat treated.

This is as close to a raw, non-heat-treated product as you can get.
